What compels someone to steal a piece of art from a museum? What happens to the artwork once it’s been stolen? Come to the Pawtucket Public Library for a talk by Anthony Amore, Rhode Island native art theft and security expert. Mr. Amore will talk about major art thefts, including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist in 1990. As Director of Security and Chief Investigator at the Gardner Museum, Amore has been leading the efforts to track down the missing artwork since joining the museum in 2005. He also co-authored the book Stealing Rembrandts: The Untold Story of Notorious Art Heists. His second book, The Art of the Con: The Most Notorious Fakes, Frauds and Forgeries in the Art World was published in 2015 and was a New York Times Crime Bestseller.
A question and answer session will follow the lecture. Signed copies of Amore’s book will also be available for purchase.
